Dominant groups

Analysis of the non-English speaking population in Wollongong City Council in 2021 compared to the total population in Wollongong City Council shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 13.7% of the non-English speaking population was aged between 0 and 14, and 22.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.6% and 18.6% respectively for the total population in Wollongong City Council.

The major differences between the age groups of the non-English speaking population in Wollongong City and the total population in Wollongong City Council were:
