Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wodonga Growth Area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Public Administration and Safety (693 people or 20.0%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (592 people or 17.1%)
- Retail Trade (336 people or 9.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 1,621 people in total or 46.8% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Wodonga South employed 9.8% in Public Administration and Safety; 17.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.1% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wodonga Growth Area and Wodonga South were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (20.0% compared to 9.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (3.1% compared to 5.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (8.7% compared to 10.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (7.5% compared to 9.3%)

The number of employed people in Wodonga Growth Area increased by 1,533 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Wodonga Growth Area were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+320 persons)
- Public Administration and Safety (+260 persons)
- Construction (+167 persons)
- Education and Training (+157 persons)
