In 2021, there were 63,700 people who caught public transport to work (train, bus, tram or ferry) in SSROC region, compared with 266,647 who drove in private vehicles (car – as driver, car – as passenger, motorbike, or truck).
Analysis of the method of travel to work of the residents in SSROC region in 2021, compared to Sutherland Shire, shows that 7.4% used public transport, while 30.1% used a private vehicle, compared with 2.9% and 41.9% respectively in Sutherland Shire.
The major differences in persons between the method of travel to work of SSROC region and Sutherland Shire were:
- A larger percentage of persons who worked at home (42.7% compared to 37.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons who travelled by train (5.5% compared to 2.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons who walked only (3.5% compared to 1.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who travelled by car (as driver) (27.8% compared to 39.6%)
