There were more technicians and trades workers in Lake Illawarra in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Lake Illawarra in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Technicians and Trades Workers (201 people or 16.1%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (192 people or 15.4%)
  • Professionals (188 people or 15.1%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 581 people in total or 46.5% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Mount Warrigal employed 17.7% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 13.0% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 14.2% in Professionals.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Lake Illawarra and Mount Warrigal were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (15.4% compared to 13.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Labourers (13.8% compared to 12.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (16.1% compared to 17.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (8.9% compared to 10.1%)
