Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Kensington in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (2,341 people or 38.5%)
- Managers (879 people or 14.5%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (768 people or 12.6%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 3,988 people in total or 65.6% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Randwick City employed 37.1% in Professionals; 17.7% in Managers; and 12.1% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Kensington and Randwick City were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (38.5% compared to 37.1%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Sales Workers (7.8% compared to 6.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Managers (14.5% compared to 17.7%)

The number of employed people in Kensington decreased by 438 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Kensington were for those employed as:
