Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Essendon in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (688 males or 12.5%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (655 males or 11.9%)
  • Retail Trade (444 males or 8.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,787 males in total or 32.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Keilor East employed 15.9% in Construction; 8.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.1% in Retail Trade.
