Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Maribyrnong in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (4,285 females or 18.8%)
  • Education and Training (2,831 females or 12.4%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,291 females or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 9,407 females in total or 41.2% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 21.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.0% in Education and Training; and 8.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Maribyrnong and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in public administration and safety (8.2% compared to 5.6%)
