Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Yarra Ward in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,047 people or 14.8%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (984 people or 13.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (738 people or 10.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,769 people in total or 39.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 9.3% in Construction; 13.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Yarra Ward and Greater Melbourne were:
