Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in East Launceston in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (262 people or 22.5%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (133 people or 11.4%)
  • Education and Training (126 people or 10.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 521 people in total or 44.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Ballarat employed 19.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 7.2% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 10.8% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of East Launceston and the City of Ballarat were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (11.4% compared to 7.2%)
