Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the City of Launceston in 2021 compared to Regional TAS shows that there was a similar proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 22.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 12.5% were one-parent families, compared with 22.6% and 10.5% respectively for Regional TAS.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 30.0% compared to 28.4% in Regional TAS while the proportion of couples without children was 25.3% compared to 29.5% in Regional TAS.
