Rural North's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.
When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural North in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (118 people or 25.8%)
- Construction (52 people or 11.4%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (47 people or 10.3%)
In combination, these three industries employed 217 people in total or 47.4% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, NSW employed 2.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 8.6% in Construction; and 14.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural North and NSW were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (25.8% compared to 2.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (3.9% compared to 8.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (1.1% compared to 5.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (10.3% compared to 14.4%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Rural North decreased by 16 between 2016 and 2021.
There were no major differences in Rural North between 2016 and 2021.
