Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the people in low income households in City of Ipswich in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Labourers (1,021 persons or 22.4%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (863 persons or 18.9%)
- Sales Workers (622 persons or 13.6%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 2,506 people in total or 55.0% of the employed people in low income households.
In comparison, South East Queensland employed 17.4% in Labourers; 18.9% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 13.6% in Sales Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by people in low income households of the City of Ipswich and South East Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (22.4% compared to 17.4%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (11.1% compared to 7.5%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (6.3% compared to 10.5%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Managers (5.8% compared to 7.6%)
