Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the City of Ipswich in 2021 compared to South East Queensland shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 32.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 15.2% were one-parent families, compared with 29.8% and 11.3% respectively for South East Queensland.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 21.0% compared to 22.5% in South East Queensland while the proportion of couples without children was 22.2% compared to 26.2% in South East Queensland.
