Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in Blacktown City Council compared to Blacktown City shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 3.5% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.3% for Blacktown City.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Ward 1 and Blacktown City were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (65.0% compared to 59.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (21.3% compared to 25.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (36.1% compared to 39.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (14.6% compared to 17.3%)
