Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Urban Bendigo in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (9,099 people or 19.8%)
  • Retail Trade (4,612 people or 10.1%)
  • Construction (4,156 people or 9.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 17,867 people in total or 39.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Strathdale employed 21.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.4% in Retail Trade; and 8.1% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Urban Bendigo and Strathdale were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.4% compared to 6.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.1% compared to 8.4%)
