Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Urban Bendigo in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (9,099 people or 19.8%)
- Retail Trade (4,612 people or 10.1%)
- Construction (4,156 people or 9.1%)
In combination, these three industries employed 17,867 people in total or 39.0% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Strathdale employed 21.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.4% in Retail Trade; and 8.1% in Construction.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Urban Bendigo and Strathdale were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.4% compared to 6.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.1% compared to 8.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (8.9% compared to 12.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (3.5% compared to 5.1%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Urban Bendigo were for those employed in:

- Construction (+662 persons)
- Public Administration and Safety (+466 persons)
- Manufacturing (+455 persons)
