Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Urban Bendigo in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (3,619 males or 15.9%)
  • Manufacturing (2,816 males or 12.4%)
  • Retail Trade (1,976 males or 8.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 8,411 males in total or 36.9% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Golden Square employed 15.9% in Construction; 12.6% in Manufacturing; and 9.3% in Retail Trade.

The major difference between the jobs held by the male population of Urban Bendigo and Golden Square was:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (2.4% compared to 1.4%)
