Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Rural East in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (440 males or 19.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (196 males or 8.6%)
  • Manufacturing (186 males or 8.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 822 males in total or 35.9% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Epsom - Ascot employed 16.8% in Construction; 6.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 14.5% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Rural East and Epsom - Ascot were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (8.6% compared to 6.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (19.2% compared to 16.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (8.1% compared to 14.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (4.7% compared to 6.6%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Rural East increased by 472 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest change in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Rural East was for those employed in:

  • Construction (+147 males)
