Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the non-English speaking resident population in City of Townsville in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (2,214 people or 27.4%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (1,608 people or 19.9%)
- Labourers (1,062 people or 13.1%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 4,884 people in total or 60.4% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, the total population in the City of Townsville employed 19.7% in Professionals; 16.1% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 9.3% in Labourers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the non-English speaking population of the City of Townsville and the total population in the City of Townsville were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Professionals (27.4% compared to 19.7%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (13.1% compared to 9.3%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (19.9% compared to 16.1%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (6.8% compared to 12.3%)
