Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population in City of Townsville in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Total employed persons aged 15+ (5,161 people or 100.0%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (1,127 people or 21.8%)
- Labourers (727 people or 14.1%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 7,015 people in total or 135.9% of the employed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population.
The major differences between the occupations held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of the City of Townsville and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander of Regional QLD were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (21.8% compared to 17.8%)
