Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural North in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (472 people or 19.5%)
  • Education and Training (213 people or 8.8%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (195 people or 8.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 880 people in total or 36.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, The Hills Shire employed 9.2% in Construction; 9.3% in Education and Training; and 13.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural North and The Hills Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (19.5% compared to 9.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (5.2% compared to 0.6%)
