With other data sources, such as Household Income, Qualifications and Occupation, they help tell the story of the economic opportunities and socio-economic status of Tasmania. The amount of income an individual receives is linked to a number of factors including employment status, age (as for instance students and retirees often receive a lower income), qualifications and type of employment.

Dominant groups
Analysis of female individual income levels in Tasmania in 2021 compared to Sorell Council area shows that there was a higher proportion of females earning a high income (those earning $2,000 per week or more) as well as a higher proportion of low income females (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 5.1% of the female population earned a high income, and 39.3% earned a low income, compared with 3.8% and 37.9% respectively for Sorell Council area.
The major difference between Tasmania's female individual incomes and Sorell Council area's female individual incomes is:
- A smaller percentage of females who earned $1,250 - $1,499 (5.5% compared to 6.3%)
