Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Pyrmont in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,432 people or 19.9%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (980 people or 13.6%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (592 people or 8.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,004 people in total or 41.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Green Square and City South Village Area employed 17.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 10.3% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 6.3% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Pyrmont and Green Square and City South Village Area were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (13.6% compared to 10.3%)
