Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Redfern in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,480 people or 19.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (827 people or 11.1%)
  • Education and Training (642 people or 8.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,949 people in total or 39.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Sydney employed 18.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 9.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 7.6% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Redfern and the City of Sydney were:
