Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Sutherland Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Construction (11,410 males or 19.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (5,725 males or 9.6%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (4,612 males or 7.8%)
In combination, these three industries employed 21,747 males in total or 36.6% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Kurnell employed 29.7% in Construction; 5.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 10.0% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Sutherland Shire and Kurnell were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (9.6% compared to 5.3%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (5.9% compared to 1.8%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in public administration and safety (7.6% compared to 5.1%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (19.2% compared to 29.7%)

- Health Care and Social Assistance (+466 males)
