Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Miranda in 2021 compared to Sutherland Shire shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 29.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.7% were one-parent families, compared with 37.1% and 9.6% respectively for Sutherland Shire.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 27.5% compared to 21.6% in Sutherland Shire while the proportion of couples without children was 24.4% compared to 26.2% in Sutherland Shire.
