Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural North in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (527 people or 56.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (80 people or 8.5%)
  • Construction (50 people or 5.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 657 people in total or 70.2% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Southern Grampians Shire employed 21.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 16.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.1% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural North and Southern Grampians Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (56.3% compared to 21.3%)
