Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Chinese languages speaking resident population in City of Ryde in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (6,014 people or 44.0%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (1,917 people or 14.0%)
- Managers (1,823 people or 13.3%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 9,754 people in total or 71.4% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 37.3% in Professionals; 13.6% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 13.5% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the Chinese languages speaking population of the City of Ryde and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Professionals (44.0% compared to 37.3%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Labourers (4.1% compared to 6.2%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (2.6% compared to 4.4%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (6.9% compared to 8.0%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed Chinese languages speakers in City of Ryde increased by 2,627 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of Chinese languages speaking residents between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Ryde were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+1,767 persons)
- Managers (+568 persons)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (+275 persons)
- Sales Workers (-71 persons)
