Dominant groups
Analysis of the car ownership of the households with recent arrivals in the City of Ryde in 2021 compared to Lane Cove Council area shows that 79.1% of recent arrivals were in households who owned at least one car and 19.6% were not, compared with 84.7% and 14.5% respectively in Lane Cove Council area.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a smaller proportion who owned just one car, a smaller proportion who owned two cars, and a larger proportion who owned three cars or more.
Overall, 55.4% of recent arrivals were in households who owned one car, 17.9% owned two cars, and 5.8% owned three cars or more, compared with 58.7%, 21.5% and 4.4% respectively for Lane Cove Council area.
