First Nations households may be more or less likely to have access to vehicles in some areas based on socio-economic status and the availability of public transport in the area. The number of vehicles can also be related to the number of adults and older children in the household.
Number of motor vehicles data should also be viewed in conjunction with Number of Bedrooms and Household Size to further build the story of the First Nations population in Rockhampton Regional Council.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the car ownership in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households in Rockhampton Regional Council in 2021 compared to [POPBMHH] shows that 87.2% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households owned at least one car and 10.2% did not, compared with 85.2% and 11.9% respectively for [POPBMHH] .
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion who owned just one car, a similar proportion who owned two cars, and a smaller proportion who owned three cars or more.
Overall, 34.8% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households owned one car, 32.6% owned two cars, and 19.8% owned three cars or more, compared with 31.4%, 32.9% and 20.9% respectively for [POPBMHH].
The major differences between car ownership for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households in Rockhampton and [POPBMHH] were:

- A smaller percentage of No motor vehicles (10.2% compared to 11.9%)
- A smaller percentage of 3 or more motor vehicles (19.8% compared to 20.9%)
