Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in North Sydney Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (4,092 females or 19.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,367 females or 16.0%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (2,536 females or 12.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 9,995 females in total or 47.4% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 8.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 22.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 5.3% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of North Sydney Council area and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (19.4% compared to 8.4%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (12.0% compared to 5.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (16.0% compared to 22.8%)
