Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of The Hill in 2021 compared to the City of Newcastle shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 10.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 14.0% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.2% and 17.0% respectively for the City of Newcastle.
The major differences between the age structure of The Hill and the City of Newcastle were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (14.6% compared to 8.3%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (12.8% compared to 8.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (2.8% compared to 5.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (3.5% compared to 5.5%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, The Hill's population increased by 153 people (7.9%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.53% per year over the period.
There were no major differences in The Hill between 2016 and 2021.
