Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural Planning Area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (2,417 people or 13.4%)
- Construction (2,252 people or 12.5%)
- Education and Training (1,586 people or 8.8%)
In combination, these three industries employed 6,255 people in total or 34.8% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Redcliffe Major Activity Centre employed 20.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 6.7% in Construction; and 5.4% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural Planning Area and Redcliffe Major Activity Centre were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (12.5% compared to 6.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.2% compared to 4.1%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Rural Planning Area were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+567 persons)
- Construction (+192 persons)
- Accommodation and Food Services (+127 persons)
- Manufacturing (+118 persons)
