Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Bribie Island in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (935 people or 15.5%)
  • Construction (711 people or 11.8%)
  • Retail Trade (606 people or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,252 people in total or 37.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Gold Coast City LGA employed 15.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.4% in Construction; and 10.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Bribie Island and Gold Coast City LGA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in mining (2.0% compared to 0.7%)
