Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Scarborough in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (723 people or 18.4%)
  • Construction (388 people or 9.9%)
  • Education and Training (357 people or 9.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,468 people in total or 37.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Redland City LGA employed 14.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.3% in Construction; and 8.5% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Scarborough and Redland City LGA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (18.4% compared to 14.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (9.9% compared to 12.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in retail trade (7.6% compared to 9.9%)
