Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Scarborough in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (723 people or 18.4%)
- Construction (388 people or 9.9%)
- Education and Training (357 people or 9.1%)
In combination, these three industries employed 1,468 people in total or 37.4% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Redland City LGA employed 14.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.3% in Construction; and 8.5% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Scarborough and Redland City LGA were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (18.4% compared to 14.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (9.9% compared to 12.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in retail trade (7.6% compared to 9.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (5.4% compared to 7.1%)

The number of employed people in Scarborough increased by 310 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Scarborough were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+121 persons)
