Dominant groups

Analysis of the family blending in the Shire of Merredin in 2021 compared to Wheatbelt Region (SA4) shows that there was a lower proportion of step families as well as a lower proportion of blended families. Overall, 13.0% of total couple families with children were step families, and 5.0% were blended families, compared with 14.2% and 4.8% respectively for Wheatbelt Region (SA4).

There were a similar proportion of other families and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of other families was 1.0% compared to 1.1% in Wheatbelt Region (SA4) while the proportion of intact families was 80.9% compared to 79.9% in Wheatbelt Region (SA4).
