Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Docklands (P) in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,346 people or 22.8%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (643 people or 10.9%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (576 people or 9.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,565 people in total or 43.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, East Melbourne (P) employed 20.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 7.5% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 6.0% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Docklands (P) and East Melbourne (P) were:
