Dominant groups
Analysis of the share of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population attending educational institutions in the City of Maroondah in 2021 compared to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Greater Melbourne shows that there was a higher proportion attending primary school, a higher proportion attending secondary school, and a lower proportion engaged in tertiary level education.
Overall, 13.4% of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population were attending primary school, 11.1% of the population were attending secondary institutions, and 8.1% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 12.9%, 9.6% and 9.0% respectively for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Greater Melbourne.
The major differences between the share of the population attending learning institutions of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in the City of Maroondah and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Greater Melbourne was:
