Dominant groups

Analysis of the families with children in the City of Kingston in 2021 compared to Carrum & Patterson Lakes Planning area shows that there was a larger proportion of couples with young children, as well as a larger proportion of couples with older children.

Overall, 17.7% of total households with children were couple with young children, and 11.1% were couples with older children, compared with 15.8% and 10.5% respectively for Carrum & Patterson Lakes Planning area.

There were a similar proportion of single parent households with young children and a similar proportion of single parent households with older children. Overall, the proportion of single parent households with young children was 3.1% compared to 3.6% in Carrum & Patterson Lakes Planning area while the proportion of single parent households with older children was 6.4% compared to 6.9% in Carrum & Patterson Lakes Planning area.
