More Division 03 female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Division 03's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Division 03 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,872 females or 25.4%)
  • Education and Training (1,394 females or 12.3%)
  • Retail Trade (1,375 females or 12.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,641 females in total or 49.9% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, the City of Ipswich employed 25.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.9% in Education and Training; and 11.3% in Retail Trade.

There were no major differences between Division 03 and City of Ipswich in 2021.

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Division 03 increased by 2,388 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 03 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+723 females)
  • Retail Trade (+243 females)
  • Education and Training (+185 females)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (+163 females)
