Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 65 to 79 years in the City of Ipswich in 2021 compared to South East Queensland, shows that there was a higher proportion of people aged 65 to 79 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 14.2% of people aged 65 to 79 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 8.6% were in one-parent families, compared with 12.3% and 6.4% respectively for South East Queensland.
There was a higher proportion of people aged 65 to 79 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 65 to 79 years in lone person households was 21.3% compared to 20.7% in South East Queensland while the proportion of couples without children was 48.1% compared to 52.6% in South East Queensland.
