Dominant groups

Analysis of the car ownership of non-English speakers in the Inner West Council in 2021 compared to the total population in the Inner West Council shows that 82.9% were in households that owned at least one car, while 15.9% did not, compared with 84.9% and 11.4% respectively in the total population in the Inner West Council.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a similar proportion owned just one car; a smaller proportion owned two cars; and a larger proportion that owned three cars or more.

Overall, 46.4% of non-English speakers were in households that owned one car; 25.4% owned two cars; and 11.1% owned three cars or more, compared with 46.4%, 28.8% and 9.6% respectively for the total population in the Inner West Council.

The largest changes in the household car ownership for non-English speakers in the Inner West Council between 2016 and 2021 were:
