Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural Remainder in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (474 people or 36.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (118 people or 9.2%)
  • Education and Training (108 people or 8.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 700 people in total or 54.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Gunnedah Shire employed 12.9% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 10.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.1% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural Remainder and Gunnedah Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (36.9% compared to 12.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in mining (7.3% compared to 14.1%)
