Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Division 14 in 2021 compared to Gold Coast City shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 26.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.1% were one-parent families, compared with 28.0% and 11.5% respectively for Gold Coast City.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 23.9% compared to 22.2% in Gold Coast City while the proportion of couples without children was 27.0% compared to 26.4% in Gold Coast City.

Emerging groups

The number of households in Division 14 increased by 786 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in family/household types in Division 14 between 2016 and 2021 were:

  • Couples with children (+519 households)
  • Couples without children (+479 households)
  • One parent families (+73 households)
  • Lone person (+70 households)
