Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population in Gold Coast City in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Total employed persons aged 15+ (5,745 people or 100.0%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (948 people or 16.5%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (907 people or 15.8%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 7,600 people in total or 132.3% of the employed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population.
The major differences between the occupations held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of Gold Coast City and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander of South East Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (15.8% compared to 14.0%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (11.2% compared to 13.1%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (6.4% compared to 8.2%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Labourers (11.8% compared to 13.5%)

- Community and Personal Service Workers (+378 people)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (+341 people)
