Ancestry
The three largest ancestries in Fraser Coast Regional Council in 2016 were English, Australian and Irish.
Ancestry defines the cultural association and ethnic background of an individual going back three generations. Ancestry is a good measure of the total size of cultural groups in Fraser Coast Regional Council regardless of where they were born or what language they speak.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Fraser Coast Regional Council in 2016 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- English (44,233 people or 43.6%)
- Australian (40,682 people or 40.1%)
- Irish (11,149 people or 11.0%)
- Scottish (10,950 people or 10.8%)
- German (8,427 people or 8.3%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 115,441 responses in total, or 113.73% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Fraser Coast Regional Council and Regional QLD were:
