An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Cook (S) in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (249 people or 13.7%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (248 people or 13.7%)
- Accommodation and Food Services (221 people or 12.2%)
In combination, these three industries employed 718 people in total or 39.6% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Regional QLD employed 4.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 15.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.0% in Accommodation and Food Services.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Cook (S) and Regional QLD were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (13.7% compared to 4.3%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (10.9% compared to 5.6%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (12.2% compared to 8.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (0.8% compared to 5.4%)
