Analysis of the five year age groups of Hope Vale Aboriginal (S) in 2021 compared to Mareeba (S) shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 28.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 6.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.5% and 22.2% respectively for Mareeba (S).
The major differences between the age structure of Hope Vale Aboriginal (S) and Mareeba (S) were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (10.9% compared to 5.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (10.2% compared to 4.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (1.7% compared to 5.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (0.6% compared to 4.6%)
