Analysis of the five year age groups of Douglas (S) in 2021 compared to Hope Vale Aboriginal (S) shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 15.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 30.1% and 5.9% respectively for Hope Vale Aboriginal (S).
The major differences between the age structure of Douglas (S) and Hope Vale Aboriginal (S) were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 55 to 59 (8.4% compared to 3.4%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (7.5% compared to 2.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (4.3% compared to 10.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (5.2% compared to 10.8%)
