Analysis of the family blending in Hope Vale Aboriginal (S) in 2021 compared to Mareeba (S) shows that there was a lower proportion of step families as well as a lower proportion of blended families. Overall, 6.7% of total couple families with children were step families, and 5.3% were blended families, compared with 8.2% and 4.8% respectively for Mareeba (S).
There were a higher proportion of other families and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of other families was 4.0% compared to 1.5% in Mareeba (S) while the proportion of intact families was 84.0% compared to 85.4% in Mareeba (S).
