In 2021, there were 12,016 separate houses in the area, 1,666 medium density dwellings, and 82 high density dwellings. In addition, there were 950 caravans/cabins/houseboats in the area.
Analysis of the types of dwellings in Cassowary Coast (R) in 2021 shows that 79.9% of all dwellings were separate houses; 11.1% were medium density dwellings, and 0.5% were in high density dwellings, compared with 68.5%, 19.5%, and 9.4% in the Cairns (R) respectively.
In 2021, a total of 86.4% of the dwellings in Cassowary Coast (R) were occupied on Census night, compared to 90.8% in Cairns (R). The proportion of unoccupied dwellings was 13.2%, which is larger compared to that found in Cairns (R) (8.8%).
